+the BMC of the Supermicro^TM X10SRi-f motherboard was not made with the usage of low RPM fans in mind, so the thresholds by which it declares fan failure are not suitable for our noctua fan setup. this can be fixed by changing the thresholds:

+ipmitool sensor thresh FANA lower 100 200 300
+
+the above command will connect to the BMC in-band, through the motherboard. modify as needed to connect over the network.
